On cherche le soleil...

ENG: On Friday we left for a weekend trip to Béziers to celebrate Ana’s Birthday. It’s a town in ‘Languedoc’ in the southeast of France were we stayed with her friend Rubén. To burn the calories from the pizza we ate, we tested the Wii Ana got for her Birthday. It was a funny and active evening!

The next day we visited Béziers. The lovely cathedral of which we climbed the stairs of the tower to see this amazing view.

FR: Le vendredi nous sommes partis pour une voyage à Beziers pour l’anniversaire d’Ana. Bézeirs est une commune française située dans la région Languedoc-Roussillon au Sud-Est de la France où nous nous sommes logé chez Rubèn, le copin d’Ana. Pour graver les calories de la pizza nous que avons mangé, nous avons testé la Wii Ana a obtenu pour son anniversaire. C’était une soirée drôle et active!

Le lendemain nous avons visité Béziers. La belle cathédrale dont nous avons grimpé pour voir une vue impressionnante.








ENG: The ‘Canal du midi’ is a 240 km long canal was built to serve as a shortcut between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean. The ‘Ecluses de Fonserannes’ is a staircase lock on the Canal du Midi near Béziers. It consists of 8 ovoid lock chambers and 9 gates, which allow boats to be raised a height of 21.5 m, in a distance of 300 m.

FR: Le Canal du Midi est une canal de 240km navigable de l'Atlantique à la mer Méditerranée. Les écluses de Fonserannes sont l’ouvrage majeur du canal du Midi, au pied de Béziers. L'ensemble des écluses comporte 8 bassins de forme ovoïde, 9 portes, qui permettent de franchir une dénivellation de 21,50 m, sur une longueur de plus de 300 m.




ENG: We couldn’t leave without seeing the Mediterranean sea. So we decided to have a picknick on the beach and enjoyed the sunset until it got too cold. In the evening we met some friends of Rubén and played billiard (in real life this time, not the virtual). We were in 2 teams: boys - girls. At the end of the evening it was a tie and we could go home in peace. After a short night sleep we drove back to Brioude. Thanks Ana for the invitation and Ruben for the hospitability!

FR: Nous ne pouvions pas partir sans voir la mer Méditerranée. Nous avons donc décidé d'avoir un pique-nique sur la plage et regarder le coucher du soleil jusqu'à ce qu'il faisait trop froid . Dans la soirée, nous avons rencontré quelques amis de Ruben et joué de billard (dans la vie réelle cette fois, pas le virtuel). 2 équipes: les mecs contre les filles. A la fin de la soirée, il était un établi et nous pouvions rentrer chez eux en paix! Après une courte nuit de sommeil, nous conduit de nouveau à Brioude. Merci à Ana pour l'invitation et à Rubén pour l'hospitalité!

BATALA MASSIF! Good Vibrations!

FR: Quand je suis arrivé en France j'ai parlé avec mon tutor que ca sarait super de faire un projet avec des jeunes et des tambours...Une semaine après j'ai trouvé une affiche dans un café qui a invité à BATALA MASSIF, un groupe de brasilien samba reagga! Après un première rendez vous avec Huw Rolands, le président qui est super gentil et engagé, j'ai commencé à jouer à Batala... Il y a des groupe de Batala partout dans le monde. Nous sommes une des 23 groupes. Chaque groupe joue des mêmes morceaux si bien qu'on peux jouer ensemble partout! A Batala Massif nous jouons parfois avec 25 personnes. Les grand tambours donne beaucoup de basse si bien le corps vibre et les petits donne le groove qui invite à bouger!

Eng: When I arrived in France I had the idea to create a drumproject with young people... One week later I discovered a flyer which invited for joining Batala Massif, a brasilian samba reagga drum band! I wrote to Huw Rolands, the very kind and committed president of Batala Massif and finally started playing in the band which consists of ca. 25 drummers. There are groups of Batala all over the world. We are one of 23. Every band is playing the same songs so that we can play together if we meet! There are 4 kinds of drums, such as the big ones which give the bass and the vibrations:). The small ones give the groove which makes you wanna dance!



Un video que j'ai fait pour Batala Massif ou je joue...

FR: Un Jour Huw m'a demandé si j'ai envie d'aider faire des ateliers avec des jeunes... et tout à coup j'avais le projet que j'ai prevue pour mon service volutaire européen!!! Magique! J'ai déjà fait 3 ateliers avec lui et il y aura des ateliers en plus pour carneval et un projet avec une école de danse pour laquelle je vais créer la musique. On vas jouer comme Stomp sur les bidons, des poubelles et la ferraille!:) Le travail avec les petits me fais grand plaisir parce qu'ils sont honnets et trés capable de s'enthousiasmer! Un autre projet dans lequel je vais participer avec le spectacle "Stomp" serait le grand rencontre vulcanic en juin ou 200 bateurs et bateuses de Batala vont arriver en Auvergne pour jouer ensemble pendant une semaine!

ENG: One day Huw asked me if I would like to help him with his workshops for kids and teenagers... All of a sudden I had the possibility to join a project I was looking for! I already did 3 workshops with him and there will be more following. For example for carneval and a projet with a dancing school for which I'm writing the music. We will use (like Stomp) garbage cans, barrels and scrap metal.
I really like working with kids beacuse they are honest and enthusiastic! An other project in which I'll participate with the "Stomp project" will be the great vulcanic meeting in june, when 200 drummers of Batala will arrive in Auvergne to play all together within one week!

FR: Le 23 décembre je suis parti en Allemgne pour rendre visit chez ma famille à Hanovre. Il ne savaient rien, donc c’était une grande surprise de me voir chez ma tante et mon oncle ou c’était prevue de célébrer noel avec toute la famille. Ma mère était trés surprise parce quelle a pensé que je suis un étranger et ma grande mère m’a vue et ,m'a ignoré parce qu’elle ne croyait pas dans ce moment là que je suis arrivé en Allemagne pour rendre visit^^ Mais après le „chock“ ils étaient trés trés content que j’était là!

ENG: At the 23rd of december I travelled back to Germany for chrismas and new-year. I surprised my family! They were quite confused, but very happy to see me at my aunts place where it was previewed to celebrate chrismas with the whole family.

FR:Au debut je n’était pas sure si c’est bien de rentrer pour noel parce que ca pourrait couper l’ambience et l’atmosphere d’etre a l’étranger... Mais après avoir vue la famille et beaucoup des amis je m’avais senté trés bien et j’étais content d’etre là!

ENG: In the beginning I wasn't sure about visiting my family and friends in Germany because it could have been a cut concerning the ambience and atmosphere in my french life. But after having seen my family and a lot of friends I felt very comfortable!

FR:Le 29 je suis parti à Berlin pour nouvel an. J’ai habite chez un bon copain qui a prevue une grande fete dans sa colocation a nouvel an! J’adore Berlin! Kreuzberg et Friedrichshain, ce sont des quartiers magique!

ENG: Two days before new year I went to Berlin to see a good friend and to celebrate of course... I love Berlin (I haven't seen much) but Kreuzberg an Friedrichshain are magic!


FR:Et maintenant je suis rentrer à Brioude dans ma vie francaise quelle m’a manqué vraiment quand j’était en Allemagne!
Merci pour tous que j’ai en Allemagne et en France! Je suis trés content de savoir que je peux rester encore 6 mois, mais en fait ce n’est pas long temps... il y a encore beaucoup de choses à faire et à decouvrir!

ENG: Now I'm in Brioude again! Back to my french life, which I missed in Germany! Thank you very much for everything I have in Germany and for everything I have and discovered in France! I'm happy about knowing that I'll stay 6 month more, which is actually not much because there are once more a lot of things to do and to discover!
